Why this matters. Birthday messages are the highest-engagement
outbound message a clinic can send — open rates above 95%, reply
rates 3-5× higher than standard recall. Used well, they’re a
warmth-builder that doubles as a soft recall touch. Used badly,
they’re cynical and patients can tell.
What Robyn will do
Birthday-day greeting
Send a personalised happy-birthday message on the patient’s birthday at a configurable time (default: 9am local).
Optional recall prompt
Append a soft “while you’re thinking about it, time for a check-in?” — only if the patient hasn’t visited in N months.
Optional in-clinic discount
Add a one-time birthday discount code, redeemable in-clinic for a configurable window (e.g. valid for 30 days).
Channel choice
SMS for warmth, email for longer-form, WhatsApp where supported. Skip the channel if the patient has opted out.
Tone matters here
Birthday messages can read as warm or as transactional, depending on wording. Robyn ships with two default templates:- Warm-only — birthday wish, no ask. Highest goodwill.
- Warm + recall — birthday wish, then a soft “if you’d like to come in soon…” nudge. Higher booking conversion.

Join the Birthday Messages waitlist
Email us with “Birthday Messages Waitlist” in the subject and we’ll add you to the early-access list.
In the meantime
If birthday messages are a priority, you can:- Use Patient Segmentation today to build a “patients with birthdays this month” segment and run a one-off campaign manually each month
- Use your PMS native birthday feature (Cliniko has one in Communications, Nookal has one in Bulk Messaging) — Routiq integrates with these, so you can keep using them while waiting for native support
